Gordon B. Hinckley said, "My plea is that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life, we accentuate the positive." This year we hope to focus more on the positive blessings in our life. Hopefully, this blog is a source of optimism for us now and in the future.

Brigham City Temple Open House

We were lucky enough to get tickets to the Brigham City Temple Open House. I have been looking forward to this for a long time. I reserved tickets for our little family and for members of my family who were visiting that weekend. I have been to a couple of open houses and enjoyed them thoroughly. I was really excited to show my kids what the inside of a temple looks like and the Spirit that is there.

We started the experience by riding a bus to the temple. They shuttled people to the temple so that they could use the underground parking garage for the introductory presentations. The boys loved the bus. It would have been a fun day for them if that is all we would have done.

When we arrived at the temple, we listened to a presentation on temples from two sister missionaries. We then took a tour of the inside of the temple. It was beautiful, like all temples. It was particularly special because the architecture and the artwork in the temple paid homage to the area. Brigham City is famous for its peaches, so there were peach blossoms carved in all the chairs and a large portion of the woodwork. There were also beautiful paintings of the area. It was neat to see that the church goes to so much effort to make each temple individual, while still sticking to a basic pattern.

Grandma C. was so sweet with Andrew. She showed him the pictures on the temple pamphlet when we started the tour, and then when we entered each room, she would show him that the room matched the pictures. I feel like Andrew got a lot out of the experience for a 3-year-old. Christian was great too. Unfortunately, about half-way through, he had to use the bathroom. That meant that he had to take the emergency exit out of the temple and back to the start of the tour. Jonathon and Christian missed the second half of the tour, but they were still able to see a good portion of it.

The last stone hasn't been cemented into place yet. That won't happen until after the dedication.
Here we are standing by the 2012 stone.

It is so amazing to know that we can have a Forever Family! Temples make that possible. It was a wonderful experience to be with my family inside the temple.

That's so neat that you were able to take your boys to see inside the temple! Makes me wish he had an open house nearby to take our kids to! What a great way to teach them about the temple :)
