Andrew turned 10 on the 18th! It wasn't his year for a friend party, so it was definitely less stressful for me. On his actual birthday, Hyrum and I went to the store and got treats and huge balloons to take to his classroom. It was so fun to surprise him and get to see his classmates get excited for him. He was in Portuguese class at the time, so we got to hear them sing in Portuguese, which was super fun.
For dinner that night, we went to Pizza Pie Cafe. That has been the dinner of choice for all of the boys for the last two years... partly because they love pizza and partly because they get a free huge ice cream and cookie sundae with their meal. We opened presents when we got home. He really didn't ask for much and couldn't think of anything he needed, so he got some money and gift cards, along with a new pair of rollerblades.
On Saturday we invited his friends, Graham and Rubin, to come to our house for a playdate. They played board games and video games for the afternoon and had a great time together.
Then on Sunday, he got the special treatment at Grandma's house. He chose orange chicken for dinner, and we had his traditional donut cake. This kid loves donuts, and I went clear to the other side of Provo to get him special ones from a yummy store. There were lots of cool flavors like snickers, grasshopper (mint and chocolate), Samoa, maple, apple and pumpkin fritters, and lots more. He was in heaven!
Some things about Andrew at 10:
