Gordon B. Hinckley said, "My plea is that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life, we accentuate the positive." This year we hope to focus more on the positive blessings in our life. Hopefully, this blog is a source of optimism for us now and in the future.

Christmas Break Fun

Christmas break was much anticipated this year. We have had an extremely busy last few months, and we really needed a chance to relax and spend time together. We had originally planned to go to San Diego for a week starting the day after Christmas, but plans didn't work out. We were disappointed, but in the long run, not traveling probably made it far less stressful. We decided that we would definitely have to go another time, hopefully when it would be less busy!

Luckily, we found plenty of other things to entertain us over the break. Jonathon's mom gave us the awesome gift of doing an escape room with all of the siblings. We really like escape rooms, but they are expensive, so this was such a fun gift. We went to a place called Escapes In Time in Orem. We split into two groups so that we would fit in the rooms. Our group did a room called "The OK Corral." It was amazing... definitely one of the best we have ever done! The puzzles were unique, the decor and ambiance was incredible, and we had such fun company to do it with. Christian and Andrew even got to come with us, which was a special treat for them. In the end, we didn't make it out in the allotted hour, but we were close, so they let us finish. Even though we didn't escape in time, it was still such a fun experience. I would highly recommend it!

Another day during the break, the Olsons came down to spend the day with us. We adore them and always look forward to a chance to get together. We watched the kids while they attended a wedding, and then they were able to spend the night at our house. The next day, we decided to go bowling at the WILK. We had a great time! They were playing really fun music, the kids all had awesome attitudes, and everyone had tons of fun. Then we let the kids run around and play at the Duck Pond outside of Jonathon's building. It was an amazingly warm winter day (near 60 degrees), and it felt so glorious to be out in the sunshine. When we were done with the ducks, we went to Bruges Waffles and got yummy waffles and frites.

The rest of the break was pretty laid back. We watched movies, went to Grandpa and Grandma's several times, and went swimming at the Rec Center. Overall, it was a nice week. Jonathon had a lot going, so he only took one week off, but that one week was very rejuvenating. I'm glad we got to spend it with a lot of wonderful people.
