Gordon B. Hinckley said, "My plea is that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life, we accentuate the positive." This year we hope to focus more on the positive blessings in our life. Hopefully, this blog is a source of optimism for us now and in the future.

Aaron and Audrey

Aaron and Audrey got married on July 13, 2016 in the Provo City Center Temple. It was a beautiful sealing ceremony, and the day went super smoothly. I have never seen a couple so calm and peaceful before, during, and after their wedding. I think it shows their naturally calm demeanors (I know Aaron is that way, at least) and also the fact that they both knew without a doubt that it was the right decision. What a marvelous feeling that is!

Aaron and Audrey met during high school. They were part of a big group of friends that all hung out together. Toward the end of high school, it seemed like they liked each other, but they never really dated steadily. Then they both went on missions, Aaron to Spain and Audrey to Romania. We found out later that Aaron and Audrey had written to each other throughout their whole missions. They both saved all of their letters from each other, so it was obvious that they both hoped for something to happen when they got home.

They started dating shortly after they got home, and their relationship seemed remarkably easy. Aaron even confessed that he was worried about getting engaged until they had at least one "fight." Audrey joined us for family dinners most Sundays, and it was fun to get to know her. They seemed like a perfect match. I doubt that they ever had that first fight, but they did finally get engaged on May 14th. Then they had a quick 8 week engagement.

After the sealing ceremony, the family gathered outside the temple to take pictures. While we were waiting for them to come out of the temple, the boys played in the fountain and played PokemonGo on my phone. I don't know how appropriate it is to catch Pokemon on the grounds of the temple (haha!), but it kept them occupied during the wait.

Audrey chose burgundy as her color, and it was really beautiful against the backdrop of the brick temple. All of the girls of the family wore the same dress, and the boys got to wear burgundy ties. Here are a few pictures of the family while we waited:

When Aaron and Audrey emerged from the temple, there were lots of cheers. They were so happy, and Audrey looked beautiful. Her dress was simple, yet elegant with lace throughout.

When pictures were over, the family luncheon was held at Magleby's in Springville. They had a lovely banquet area that was decorated with a Renaissance feel with stone, a running fountain, pillars,  and murals. We ate pasta and divine chocolate cake and enjoyed each others company.

The reception was held later that night at a reception center in American Fork. Since the reception center did most of the work, it left plenty of time for everyone to chat with the guests and enjoy themselves. They served BYU Creamery ice cream (yummy and so fun!) and cake. Then the siblings decorated their car. It turned out cute and fun, without being annoying... Always a winning combination. They filled the car with balloons that contained money, wrote on the windows with window paint, and attached a banner to the back of their bikes. I thought it was perfectly done. What a wonderful day it was.

We are so excited for Audrey to be part of the family. Congratulations Aaron and Audrey!
