Gordon B. Hinckley said, "My plea is that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life, we accentuate the positive." This year we hope to focus more on the positive blessings in our life. Hopefully, this blog is a source of optimism for us now and in the future.

Easter Fun in Idaho

The Easter Egg Hunt
Grandma, Ben, and Terry set up an awesome Easter egg hunt for the kids. They filled the eggs with all kinds of "treasures" like stickers, money, erasers, toys, etc. There was just enough candy to make them happy, but not so much that the parents were going crazy from their sugar highs. Well done, Grandma!

During the actual egg hunt, McKay (age 2) was a beast! He beat everybody to the eggs and kept scooping them up left and right. He was so funny to watch. Christian and Andrew were slowly dawdling around looking for, but not finding many eggs. At the end we had to "redistribute" the eggs because Andrew only had 5 and McKay had around 20. Next year if he gets beat by a 2 year old, he deserves to only get 5 eggs! Haha :) Luckily, everyone had fun and no one was too concerned that the eggs were eventually split up evenly.

Swimming at Uncle Mike's Pool
Our boys haven't been swimming much since they took lessons last summer. Uncle Mike let us use his awesome indoor swimming pool, so they had lots of time to get used to the pool again. Andrew was much braver than Christian and loved going down the water slide and jumping into the pool. Christian eventually warmed up to the water and had fun. The big boys had a great time competing in a splash competition doing cannonballs and figure fours. Joe was undeniably the best! All those years of practice paid off. Some of us didn't get to swim (no maternity suit), but we still enjoyed chatting and eating. One of the best things about going to Uncle Mike's pool is that he always makes us homemade french fries and dipping sauce. They are indescribably yummy! It was a great evening for all.

Felling the Tree
Mom had a dead tree out in the corner of the yard that she needed cut down. It had been there for a while because no one really wanted to do the job, but as soon as Joe and Jonathon heard about it, they were outside making plans. Joe did most of the chain saw work while Dad and Jonathon held the rope to ensure that the tree fell the right direction. After a few minutes, the tree was down and the boys were feeling like manly men!

 Hail the conquering heroes!

A trip to Idaho is never complete without lots of games and lots of food. Most of the rest of our free time was spent playing Settlers of Catan or a new game called Wits and Wagers. When we weren't playing, there were brownies, ice cream, root beer floats, pulled pork burritos, pizza, and all manner of delicious things to eat. Mom always knows how to host an amazing party!

I love seeing pictures of your family, so glad you we able to visit Idaho, nothing quite compares to a trip 'home'.
