Gordon B. Hinckley said, "My plea is that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life, we accentuate the positive." This year we hope to focus more on the positive blessings in our life. Hopefully, this blog is a source of optimism for us now and in the future.

Summer Vacation: One month down, Two more to Go

Now that I have a child in school, I have come to love the routine and order that it brings to our lives. I loved being able to take Christian to school and then spend one on one time with Andrew. The days passed so much faster and we all thrived on it! That being said, Summer vacation scared me a little. When we don't have a schedule or activities planned we all tend to get grumpy. Over the last few weeks, I have worked really hard to keep life interesting and do plenty of fun and educational things. There have still been some days of major boredom, but they have been relatively few. These are some of the things we did in June...

*Books we've read:
Christian (reading by himself or being read to):
Nate the Great by Marjorie Shermat
Nate the Great and the Halloween Hunt by Marjorie Shermat
The Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Pope Osborne
Hank the Cowdog by John R. EricksonThe Magic Tree House: Viking Ships at Sunrise by Mary Pope Osborne
The Magic Tree House: The Knight at Dawn by Mary Pope Osborne
The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary

Sarah:A Million Suns by Beth Revis:
  •  I am not really a sci-fi kind of girl, but I have really enjoyed the first two books of this trilogy. The first one is called Across the Universe and both are excellent. They pose so many interesting questions. They are really fast reads if you are interested in some fun books...
All Mom's Go to Heaven by Dean Hughes

*Summer School Time: Andrew is working on letters; Christian is working on math and writing

*$1 Movies at Cinemark Theaters: We have seen Rio and Happy Feet 2 so far. The boys loved going to the theater. There was no pressure to keep them quiet and still because the whole theater was full of kids!

*Playdates with Friends

*Utah Museum of Natural History

-The boys loved this giant puzzle of the cell; they also were completely thrilled with the dinosaurs!

*Cousin Teresa's Wedding

- We enjoyed spending the day at the Draper temple for Teresa and Scott's wedding. It was also so fun to go to their reception catered by Sub Zero Ice Cream. Congratulations to the Newlyweds!

*Picking and Selling Cherries

*Playing at the Park

*Playing in the Kiddie Pool

Coming up in July: H. Family Reunion, Swimming Lessons
