Gordon B. Hinckley said, "My plea is that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life, we accentuate the positive." This year we hope to focus more on the positive blessings in our life. Hopefully, this blog is a source of optimism for us now and in the future.

The Scouting Years have Begun

As the mom of 3 boys, I am confident that Scouting is going to be a big part of the next 15 years. While I don't personally love camping and doing scout-type activities, I love the values that Scouting teaches. I love that it encourages the boys to set and complete goals. I love that it emphasizes continual learning, and I love that it encourages the boys to be good people and good leaders.

My first little scout attended his first pack meeting last week. While Christian doesn't turn 8 until next month, they welcomed him into the pack this month because of the long summer break. He also gets to go to day camp this week. He is very excited and definitely ready to start the journey to Eagle Scout.

Cub Scouts can be quite expensive, but luckily, my mom had an old scout shirt that she gave Christian. Then I found a brand new Wolf neckerchief at a yard sale for 25 cents. What a Score! He looked so grown up in his uniform.

During the pack meeting, our Cub Master, Geri McCauley, had Christian come to the front and get the Wolf colors painted on his cheeks. He also got his new book. Christian will be a great addition to the pack and a great example to our two future scouts.
